A plain-English look at what the AIPorter Chrome extension reads, what leaves your browser, which permissions it asks for, and who is behind it.
An extension that works on your AI chats should explain itself clearly. Here is what AIPorter does, in plain words. The legal version is in the privacy policy.
Where it runs
Only on chatgpt.com, claude.ai and gemini.google.com. It cannot see other websites, your other tabs or your browsing history. It reads a conversation only when you ask it to transfer, export or optimize.
What stays in your browser
Transfers and exports. When you move a chat to another AI or save it as Markdown, that happens in your browser. The conversation itself is not uploaded to AIPorter.
What leaves your browser, and when
- When you click Optimize: the text in your message box and, if you allow it, the last few messages of that chat go to AIPorter's server and to an AI provider (Groq, with Google Gemini as a backup) to write the better prompt. The result comes straight back. AIPorter does not save this text.
- To apply the free daily limits: a random device ID created by the extension and your IP address are sent with each Optimize or export. These daily counts are deleted after about a week.
- If you sign in: your email address, your plan and your daily usage counts.
- If you pay: the payment is handled by Razorpay (India) or Dodo Payments (other countries) on their own pages. AIPorter never sees or stores your card or UPI details.
You are asked first
The first time you open AIPorter, a welcome page lists what is sent and why. Nothing is sent to AIPorter's server until you press "Agree and continue", and you can untick the option that shares recent messages.
Permissions it asks Chrome for
- storage: to remember your settings and sign-in on your computer.
- activeTab: to read the conversation in the tab you are on, when you ask it to.
- favicon: to show the small site icons next to the "continue in another AI" buttons.
- Access to the three AI sites listed above, and nowhere else.
Who is behind it
AIPorter is built and run by Chirag Kumar at aiporter.pro. It is independent and not made by or affiliated with OpenAI, Anthropic or Google. AIPorter does not sell your data or use it for ads.
Sensible habits for any AI tool
- Do not paste passwords, card numbers or other secrets into any AI chat.
- Turn off the "recent messages" option if your chat holds sensitive material and you want only your draft sent.
