AIPorter for Chrome

Privacy Policy

The short version

  • Moving a chat to another AI and exporting it to Markdown happen in your browser. We don't upload those conversations.
  • When you use Optimize, the text you're writing (and, if you allow it, a short part of the recent conversation) is sent to our server and to an AI provider, Groq first and Google Gemini as a backup, to rewrite it. We don't store that text.
  • You can try AIPorter without an account. To apply the daily free limits we count use per device, using a random device ID and your IP address.
  • If you sign in, we store your email address, your plan and daily usage counts so limits and paid plans work.
  • We don't sell your data, show ads, or use your data for anything unrelated to running AIPorter.

Who we are

AIPorter ("we", "us") makes the AIPorter browser extension and runs the website aiporter.pro. This policy covers the AIPorter extension. For any question about it or your data, email support@aiporter.pro.

AIPorter is independent and is not affiliated with OpenAI, Anthropic, Google or Groq.

What the extension can access

AIPorter only runs on chatgpt.com, claude.ai and gemini.google.com. It can't see other websites, your other tabs or your browsing history. It asks Chrome for these permissions:

PermissionWhy we need it
Access to chatgpt.com, claude.ai and gemini.google.comTo add the AIPorter button, read the conversation when you ask to transfer or export it, and paste a transferred chat into the destination site.
activeTabTo read the chat in the tab you're looking at when you open AIPorter from the toolbar.
storageTo keep your settings, sign-in session, device ID and your daily-limit counts on your own device.
faviconTo show the small site icons of ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini next to the transfer buttons, from Chrome's own icon cache.

What we collect and why

1. Using AIPorter without an account

You can use a limited free preview before signing in. To apply its daily limits, the extension creates a random device ID when it's installed and sends it with each Optimize or export request. Our server also sees your IP address, as every website does. We use the device ID and IP address only to count today's use and to stop abuse of the free limits. These daily counters are deleted automatically after about a week. The device ID is random. It isn't linked to your hardware or to anything else on your computer.

2. Account information

To sign in, you enter your email address and we email you a 6-digit code. There is no password. Sign-in is handled by our authentication provider, Supabase, and codes are sent through our email provider, Resend. We use your email to sign you in, apply your plan and limits, send license keys and important service messages, and answer support requests. We don't send marketing email unless you ask for it.

3. Prompts you choose to optimize

When you click Optimize or press its shortcut, the extension sends:

  • the text currently in the message box,
  • a short excerpt of the recent conversation on that page, for context, only if "send context" is on (it's on by default and you can turn it off in the extension), and
  • which site you're on (ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini).

Our server sends the text to Groq to write the improved prompt. If Groq is unavailable, it sends it to Google's Gemini API instead. The result comes back to you. We don't save the prompt, the context or the rewritten text in our database. Groq and Google process it under their own terms: Groq Privacy Policy and Gemini API Additional Terms of Service. If both providers are unavailable, the extension writes a basic version itself, in your browser, without sending anything further. Please don't put passwords, payment details or other sensitive information into text you optimize.

4. Usage records

To enforce daily limits and keep the service reliable, we store how many optimizations and exports were used today for each device and, if you're signed in, for your account. For each optimization we also keep a short technical log: the site, success or error, response time, which AI model answered, and your email (or "anonymous" if you weren't signed in). These records don't contain your prompts or conversations.

5. Plan, license and devices

If you have a paid plan, we store your license key, plan, expiry date, purchase amount and currency, and which payment provider was used. To apply your plan's device limit, we keep a list of the device IDs you've used with your account, with the dates each was first and last used. You can see this list and remove devices in the extension's Account tab.

6. Payments

Payments are handled by our payment providers: Razorpay for payments in India and Polar for other countries. They collect your payment details directly, and we never see or store your full card number. We receive confirmation of the purchase, your email and the amount.

7. Data kept only on your device

The extension stores some data in Chrome's local storage on your computer: your sign-in session, plan, settings, device ID, your daily-limit counts, and, for a few seconds during a transfer, the conversation being moved. This stays on your device except as described above. Signing out removes your session, and uninstalling the extension removes all of it.

8. Transfers and exports

When you transfer a chat or export it to Markdown, the conversation is read and formatted in your browser, then pasted into the destination site, downloaded as a file or copied to your clipboard. We don't receive the conversation. We only record that one transfer or export happened, to count it toward your daily limit. Once a chat is pasted into another AI service, that service's privacy policy applies to it.

Who processes your data

We use a small number of providers, only to run AIPorter:

ProviderWhat for
SupabaseAccounts, sign-in, database and the server functions the extension calls
GroqRewriting prompts for Optimize (first choice)
Google (Gemini API)Rewriting prompts for Optimize (backup)
ResendSending sign-in codes and license emails
Razorpay and PolarProcessing payments for paid plans
VercelHosting aiporter.pro
Zoho MailReceiving and answering support email

These providers may store or process data in countries other than yours, including the United States. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect our users and service from fraud or abuse. If AIPorter is ever sold or merged, this policy will continue to apply to the data we hold.

What we never do

  • We don't sell or rent your data.
  • We don't use or transfer your data for advertising, credit checks or lending.
  • We don't use your data for anything other than providing and improving AIPorter's features described here.
  • We don't let people read your data, except when you ask us to (for example in a support request), when needed for security or abuse investigations, or when the law requires it.

AIPorter's use of information received from Chrome follows the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

How long we keep data

Daily usage counters for devices and IP addresses are deleted after about a week. We keep your account, plan, device list and usage logs while your account is open. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete your data within 30 days, except records we must keep for tax or accounting (such as purchase records), which we keep only as long as the law requires.

Your choices and rights

  • Turn off context. Switch off "send context" in the extension so only the text you're writing is sent for optimization.
  • Don't use Optimize. Transfers and exports never send your conversations to us.
  • Remove devices. See and remove the devices on your account in the Account tab.
  • Access, correct, export or delete. Email support@aiporter.pro from your account email and we'll respond within 30 days.
  • Uninstall. Removing the extension deletes everything it stored on your device.

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in Europe, the UK GDPR, or India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act), you may have further rights, including to object to processing or complain to your data protection authority. We'll help you use them.

Security

All data between the extension, our servers and our providers is encrypted in transit with HTTPS. Access to our database is restricted, and server keys are never shipped inside the extension. No system is perfectly secure, so if we ever learn of a breach that affects you, we'll tell you without undue delay.

Children

AIPorter isn't meant for children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has given us data, contact us and we'll delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change is significant, for example collecting a new kind of data, we'll tell you in the extension or by email before it takes effect.
